From City of Troy Community Affairs...

To supplement critically low blood supplies in the area, Troy is sponsoring a city-wide blood drive on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, 9am - 3 pm at the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois, in Room 304-305.   Call the City of Troy’s Community Affairs Department at 248.524.1147 to make your appointment now.  Walk-ins are welcome.   A photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card will be required at the time of donation.

“The blood needs of our community can only be met by support from volunteer blood donors,” Cindy Stewart, City of Troy Community Affairs Director, said.  “Donations are critical for burn victims, open-heart surgeries, some chemotherapy and leukemia patients.”

To donate blood you must be in good health, weigh 110 pounds or more and be at least 17 years old.  A photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card will be required at the time of donation.  The donation process takes about an hour from the start of registration to walking out the door.

“After donating blood a person should feel like a hero, knowing that they just helped save up to three lives,” Stewart said.

For over 90 years, the American Red Cross-Southeastern Michigan Chapter has served the people of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.  For more information about the organization, visit semredcross.org.
