The American Red Cross needs your support!  The Troy Firefighters Women’s Auxiliary Blood Drive will be held at the Troy Community Center (3179 Livernois), in rooms 304 and 305 on Wednesday, January 9 from 9 am – 9 pm.  Call 248.689.2339 or 1.800.GIVELIFE to make an appointment.  Your donation does make a difference.

“Giving blood is a way for all of us to do our part to save a life,” said Cindy Stewart, City of Troy Community Affairs Director.  “We need your donations now more than ever.  If you can’t donate blood, donate your time at a site, offer to drive someone to the blood drive or supply food for sites.”

The donation process takes less than one hour, from registration to post-donation.  The process is safe and easy.  A snack of juice and cookies are provided.  Your donation could save a life!  Walk-in donors are welcome!

From the City's Community Affairs Department...

When all of the presents have been opened and the decorations safely stored, dispose of your Christmas tree with Troy’s convenient curbside pickup service. This free service will be offered on regular trash days from December 26, 2007 – January 10, 2008.

For residents living in apartments, or for those who miss the pickup dates, Oakland County Parks will accept Christmas trees and recycle them. Trees will be accepted at 10 locations from Dec. 26, 2007 – Jan. 13, 2008, from 9 am – 4 pm, at no cost. Trees that are dropped off must have all decorations, plastic, metal and string removed. Those who drop off their tree will receive a voucher for a free evergreen tree seedling to be picked up in the spring.
