From the Troy Police Department...

The Troy Police Department in conjunction with the Troy Fire Department and Troy School District will host the fourth Shop with a Hero Program in Troy this afternoon.  With the generous financial support of the Michigan Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group, the Troy Wal-Mart Store, Buscemi’s Pizza, the Troy Police Officers’ Association, and Troy Command Officers’ Association a group of children from Troy who otherwise might not be able to fully participate in the holiday festivities will have the opportunity to select Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.  Twenty five children will be participating, along with thirty volunteers from the police and fire departments, as well as the Troy Police Explorers Post.  Each child will be provided with a gift card and will be assisted with their shopping by a uniformed Troy Police Officer or Fire Fighter.  A pizza party and gift-wrapping station will be set up inside the store for participants and their families to enjoy while they shop. The event will also feature a special appearance from Santa.

The Wal-Mart Store is located at 2001 West Maple in Troy.   The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. this evening.
