From the City's Community Affairs Department...
The Troy Community Center needs your help in making the Center’s Teen Room a place for Troy’s youth to call their own. Troy high school and middle school students are invited to enter the “Name the Teen Room” contest and have a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to Somerset Mall! The Teen Room is an awesome place where any teen can hang out with friends or do homework with limited adult supervision! Teens can utilize any of the room’s amenities, which include a pool table, air hockey, foosball, music listening station, large screen TV with DVD/VCR player, Game Cube video game, card tables, couches, bean bag chairs, and more.
“We’ve gone through great lengths trying to create a perfect environment for our teens to have fun,” said Scott Mercer, Recreation Coordinator. “Now we just need to add that final, personalized touch with the help of the teens who come and enjoy everything that the Teen Room has to offer.”
To enter the contest, teens must fill out an entry form with their name, address, phone number, and school, along with their names for the Teen Room, and place it in the drop box located outside of the Teen Room. Entry forms can be picked up at the Community Center (3179 Livernois) and the Troy Community Coalition Office (4420 Livernois), or found online at www.troymi.gov/parksrec. The contest is open to all middle and high school students who live in Troy. The contest deadline is January 15, 2008. The winning name will be selected by Teens Taking Action and the Troy Youth Council. If more than one student enters the winning name, a random drawing will take place for the $50 gift certificate to Somerset.
All Troy teens are invited to use the teen room. First time visitors are asked to register with the Parks and Recreation Department. Registration forms to use the Teen Room are located online at www.troymi.gov/parksrec. Returning students simply need to show their school ID card to use the room for FREE!
