From the City of Troy Community Affairs Department...

The Troy Veterans Memorial Committee hosts the 7th annual Troy Veterans Day Ceremony at Troy Veterans Plaza, in front of City Hall (500 W Big Beaver), Sunday, November 11 at 11 am. (In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the City Council Chambers).  The program will include the Troy Heritage Concert Band, a memorial brick dedication, the Raising of National Colors by the Troy Police Honor Guard, and the Laying of the Memorial Wreath on the Veterans Monument by honorary guests.  It will also feature guest speaker Colonel Mike Micucci of the U.S. Marine Corps and Program Manager for the Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicles and the Marine Personnel Carrier of the Tank Automotive and Armaments Command in Warren, Michigan.

Still on active duty, Micucci has held a variety of positions for the past 23 years leading Marines at the platoon, company and battalion level.  He served as Combat Engineer Company Commander during Operation Desert Shield and Storm for 1st Battalion, 7th Marines and was the Combat Engineer Battalion Commander in support of the 1st Marine Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom I in 2003.

The public is invited to bring individual flowers, bouquets, small flags and other appropriate mementos to be placed on the walk of honor or at the base of the Veterans Memorial in honor of a loved one or all veterans.

The sale of commemorative bricks ($60 each) will continue and the Veterans Memorial Committee will dedicate them at future Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
