Last Thursday, I submitted a letter to the editor of the Troy Eccentric.  Unfortunately, the editor decided not to print it.

Here's what I sent...

During my service as a City Councilmember, I've had the privilege of serving with Martin Howrylak and David Eisenbacher.  I'm supporting Martin and David for election because of the facts.  That is, the tax facts.  First, Governor Granholm and a majority of the members of the State Legislature just raised income taxes on every Michigan family by 12 percent and added a new 6 percent tax on services. Second, United States Representative Charlie Rangel, the chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, recently introduced a plan to raise taxes by $3.5 trillion over the next ten years that will be the largest individual income tax increase in the history of our nation.  Compared to the record of state and federal government, we are fortunate to have a City staff and City Council that not only maintains a low tax rate but also practices fiscal responsibility.  You can count on David Eisenbacher and Martin Howrylak to keep the focus on low taxes and fiscally prudent policies for Troy.
