Credit, Check, Identity Theft, and other Fraud:
Complainant’s driver’s license and check card were stolen. Account number used to fraudulently purchase a round trip plane fare from Cincinnati to Albuquerque for $348.70.
Complainants reported four fraudulent credit card accounts were fraudulently opened using their personal information. They discovered the fraud apparently after receiving notice regarding the past due accounts. A valid account they possess had fraudulent charges made against it.
Domestics/Family Troubles:
Complainants came to station to report their home was entered through a bathroom window while they were at work. The 29 and 24 year old sons who no longer live there are suspected, as most of which was taken appears to be their belongings.
Troy Officers responded to one incident involving a family trouble/domestic dispute where investigation revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal enforcement action taken/required.

Oakland Mall Lot, 4112 W. 14 Mile, 8/21, 1905 hrs.
Female complainant pushing a stroller with her two small children through the lot after exiting the mall reported being approached by two males who were on foot. One grabbed the diaper bag from near the handle of the stroller. Both suspects fled to a nearby car, which was last seen driving toward John R. The contents of the diaper bag included a small amount of money and a bank statement. Suspects: B/M, 20’s, 6-0, medium to stocky build, light T-shirt and dark shorts; #2 is a B/M, 20’s, 5-4, thin build, braided hair. Vehicle: Late model blue Ford Mustang 2D hardtop. 06-32417
Allied Metals, 1750 Stephenson, 0030 hrs.
Complainant discovered a bar code scanner, digital camera, two palm pilots, four two-way radios, and chargers, stolen from office over the weekend. Investigation revealed a substitute cleaning person cleaned the building and apparently allowed three male associates access inside. The males allegedly stole the items. She returned some of the merchandise to her employer who in turn returned it to complainant. She is a 16 year old female from Warren, the males are a 43 year old, a 17 year old, and the age of the third is unknown. All are also from Warren. Charges pending.

Complainant came to station to report neighbor came over and rudely complained about a bonfire his family had going in yard. Complainant objected to neighbor’s trespass upon his property and the language used.

Maple near Dequindre, 8/21, 2148 hrs.
Officer attempted to stop a ’05 Ford Taurus after observing it swerving as it drove along. The vehicle did not stop after officer in fully marked patrol car activated lights and sirens in attempt to stop it, but continued driving below the speed limit. The vehicle stopped at stop signals, but would not respond to the emergency equipment or officer’s continued orders over the PA system to pull over. After proceeding approximately a mile and a half, and while stopped at a red signal, as well as after continued announcements over the PA system, the driver pulled over. The 25-year-old female driver from Fraser claimed she wasn’t sure the police car was real, so was waiting to arrive in a well-lit area to stop. She had passed numerous well-lit parking lots, however before stopping. She was not drunk; she had no contraband. She was issued a citation for Failing to Stop for a Police Officer’s Signal and referred to SOS for a driver evaluation. 06-32431
Coffee Net Lot, Long Lake near Rochester, 8/22, 0003 hrs.
Officers dispatched on a report of a suspicious van in the lot with several males inside. Upon arrival, officers observed a 14 and 20-year-old male from Troy on foot in the lot. They appeared to be making antagonizing gestures directed towards someone else in the area. As the police car entered the lot, both fled on foot. Both were eventually caught, the 20-year-old while still in the lot, the 14-year-old hiding behind the brick wall that separates the lot from a nearby subdivision. The 20 year old stated a group of friends picked him up and told him they were headed to a store because another group of people were going to fight one of their friends. He stated earlier in the day his friends were at the Coffee Net and someone threw a slushy or shake on the van they were in. He was released. The 14 year old had a 5-inch steak knife in his pocket. He provided a similar account as the 20 year old. He stated he grabbed the steak knife for protection before getting into the van. He stated when they arrived in the lot of the Coffee Net, he and a couple of people from the van were dropped off and the van took off to get some more friends. He was transported to the station and TOT his mother pending follow-up by the Youth Bureau. 06-32440.

Big Beaver east of John R, 8/21, 2145 hrs.
Passersby reported a small child walking unattended down the sidewalk and stopped with the child to await officers’ arrival. Officers responded and determined the 2-year-old male had walked out of and away from a nearby residence. No injuries. Child safely returned home. Protective Services contacted. 06-32430
Troy Officers responded to one incident involving an individual experiencing emotional/psychological difficulties and assisted w/transport to the hospital for evaluation/commitment.
