These summaries are meant to provide general highlights of items of interest and do not necessarily reflect every incident responded to. Investigations of a nature or at a juncture where publicity may impair the outcome of a case are not generally listed.


Altercations/Disorderly Conduct:

Assaults:

Apartment Complex, 2000 Block of John R, Early morning hours of 1/28
Complainant reported while sleeping in her bedroom, an intruder awoke her, covered her head, and sexually assaulted her. The suspect forced entry into the apartment; after the assault he fled the apartment with an assortment of property belonging to the victim. The suspect is described as a W/M, early 40’s. Investigation continues. 06-3728

Troy Manor, 336 John R, 1/27, 2254 hrs.
Officers responding to a report of a large fight in the lot observed two large groups with people fighting in each group. Members of the groups fled as police units came into view. Individuals that were detained and interviewed at the scene were less than cooperative. A 17-year-old male from Sterling Heights was located who suffered a laceration on his arm apparently from a knife. He was transported to the hospital and described as stable. He indicated he was confronted inside by an unknown male for an unknown reason and challenged to a fight, but he declined. He stated when he exited, he was charged by a short, heavy built bald male subject wearing a white T-shirt, light colored jeans, and a silver necklace with a crucifix. He stated he ended up on the ground at which point he observed his right arm bleeding severely. He stated he got up, but was tackled, and then kicked and punched by numerous subjects. A possible suspect was identified; he is an 18-year-old male from Sterling Heights. He denied involvement. A member of management indicated he removed an individual from the party who was being confrontational. He stated he observed the subject outside make a call to some friends who came to the location in a red ’05 Dodge Ram P/U registered to a male from Sterling Heights. Three of the occupants entered the party at which point the large fight broke out. Investigation continues. 06-3683

Assist Other Department/Law Enforcement:

Troy Investigators participated in the tri-county Operation ICE detail last week, assisting Michigan Department of Corrections Officers visit parolees and probationers. Several parole and probation violations were discovered and referred for prosecution.

Auto/Vehicle Thefts:

Apartment Complex, 900 Block John R, 1/24-1/25, 0001-0600 hrs.
A ’03 Dodge Neon parked in lot had driver’s side door lock damaged. 06-3641

OnStar, 1350 John R, 1/26, 1300-2245 hrs.
A ’03 Dodge Intrepid was stolen from lot. 06-3512

Apartment Complex, 2200 Block N. Lovington, 1/26-1/27, 1830-0345 hrs.
A ’05 Jeep Cherokee had door lock and ignition punched; the vehicle was partially backed out then abandoned by suspects. A ’05 Jeep Liberty parked nearby had door lock punched; no entry gained. 06-3530

Oakland Mall, 412 W. 14 Mile, 1/27, 1215-1330 hrs.
A ’05 Dodge Ram P/U was stolen from lot. It was later recovered by DPD in their city missing the wheels/tires, damage to the driver’s side door lock, with damage to the ignition and right rear quarter panel. 06-3592

Detroit, 1/28, 1528 hrs.
DPD recovered a ’03 Dodge Intrepid in their city that was stolen from Troy. 06-3512

Credit, Check, Identity Theft, and other Fraud:

Complainant reported receiving notice from his bank that someone created a counterfeit check using his account numbers, but inserted a different name and used it to make a purchase at a store in Troy for $173.37. 06-3558

Complainant reported someone used his identity to purchase a car in 2002; he suspects a former co-worker. 06-3439

Complainant reported $1344.48 of fraudulent charges against her credit card account to a computer retailer and racing entity. Her cards are accounted for. 06-3605

Marshall Field’s, 500 W. 14 Mile, 12/16/05
LPO reported 20-year-old female seasonal employee from Highland Park obtained a customer’s credit account number then proceeded to use it to make three fraudulent transactions for herself for a total of $1306.51. Charges pending. 06-3777

Complainant stated he was contracted to do cement work for 35-year-old male suspect’s company from Rochester Hills. The initial partial payment check for $1400.00 came back non-sufficient funds. Complainant contacted suspect who advised to give him some time, after which he told complainant to try the check again. When he did, complainant was advised the account was closed. He has been unable to contact suspect since. The full amount of $5400.00 is still owed. 06-3625

Domestics/Family Troubles:

Troy Officers responded to four incidents involving family troubles/domestic disputes where investigation revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal enforcement action taken/required.

Drugs/Narcotics:

Adams and Evergreen, 1/28, 2000 hrs.
Officers responded to report of a suspicious occupied vehicle where complainant over-heard one of the occupants talking on his cell phone about a drug deal. As the patrol car pulled up, one male passenger jumped out and fled on foot, while the driver of the car tried to drive away. The ’91 Honda Accord was stopped. The 16-year-old male driver from Huntington Woods had no license and was arrested. The 16-year-old male from Troy who fled was located and returned to the scene. The other two occupants were a 16-year-old male from Berkley and a 15-year-old male from Huntington Woods. Subsequent investigation discovered approximately $180.00 in cash among the four subjects, approximately 50 grams of marijuana in various packages in the car and in a coat belonging to one of the subjects, narcotics paraphernalia, a toy gun, and empty plastic baggies. All four were arrested for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Manufacture/Deliver, processed at the station, and released to their parents. 06-3787

Troy Police Station, 500 W. Big Beaver, 1/28, 2236 hrs.
A 53-year-old female from Grayling was waiting in the lobby for a ride, when she asked to use the restroom. When she didn’t emerge, an officer checked it and found her passed out/unresponsive. There were two syringes and a cooking spoon on the floor. When EMS treated her and she re-gained consciousness, she indicated she had taken heroin. She was transported to the hospital. Possible charges for possession or use are pending. 06-3796

Souter and Rankin, 1/27, 1215-1300 hrs.
A 34-year-old male from Davison was observed cruising several parking lots in the area in a ’91 Chevy Astro van. He was stopped and arrested for Driving on a Suspended License. During his arrest, a pill bottle for Zanax prescribed to someone else that contained 17 Vicodin was recovered from the suspect; approximately 4 grams of marijuana were recovered from the console of the van. He was also charged with possessing both drugs illegally. 06-3576

Maple near Dequindre, 11/29, 2118 hrs.
A 39-year-old male from Detroit was stopped for speeding and an expired license plate. He was arrested for Driving on a Suspended License. When processed into the jail a small packet of heroin was found in his coat for which he was also charged. 06-3908

Drunk/Intoxicated Driving Incidents of Interest:

Daniels, 1/30, 0223 hrs.
Cell phone caller reported ’03 Ford Focus driving “from curb to curb.” Officer located it on Long Lake near Daniels, where it made an abrupt turn onto Daniels, and nearly struck the curb, a street sign, and a pile of dirt from a construction project. When the officer tried to stop it, it continued briefly, then abruptly came to a stop, and the male driver fled on foot. After a foot chase, the suspect was caught, displayed signs of alcohol intoxication, and was arrested. His 27-year-old female passenger from Midland was found in possession of open intoxicants inside the vehicle. She was cited and released at the scene. The 30-year-old male driver from Troy blew .19 on a breath test. He has two prior drunk driving convictions within the last 10 years. His license was revoked at the time of this incident. He was charged with Felony Drunk Driving due to the priors, Driving on a Revoked License, and Hinder and Obstructing a Police Officer for fleeing on foot. 06-3933

Aldo Shoe Store, 2800 W. Big Beaver, 12/15-1/27/06
Complainant reported 23-year-old female employee from Sterling Heights was suspected of converting $1200.00 worth of fraudulent transactions to her own use. An outstanding felony arrest warrant was located against her from another jurisdiction by investigating officers for which she was arrested. Complainant still collecting documentation for prosecution regarding the embezzlement. Upon receipt, charges will be sought. 06-3656

Complainant reported a bag containing $72.08 of recent lingerie purchases was missing/stolen from his room. 06-3819

Welling and Calvert, 1/29, 2100 hrs.
Rear glass shattered out of parked ’97 Honda Civic while complainant was sitting inside of it. Unknown what struck the window. Complainant observed a wood paneled station wagon in the area after the incident, but is not sure if it was involved. 06-3909

Starr, 1/28, 0400-2300 hrs.
A ’96 Chevy Monte Carlo parked in the street was spray painted with yellow paint along the driver’s side door and rear quarter panel. 06-3801

Shale, 1/27-1/28, 2300-1000 hrs.
A ’96 Saturn SW1 parked on the street had rear window broken out. 06-3715

Coral, 1/27-1/28, 2100-0000 hrs.
A ’05 Toyota parked in street had front window smashed out. 06-3690

McIntosh, 1/28, 0030-0800 hrs.
A ’97 Volvo parked in street had both driver’s side windows broken out. 06-3706

Brooklawn, 1/28, 0130-1000 hrs.
A ’02 VW Jetta parked in drive was keyed and all four tires slashed. 06-3719

Minors and Alcohol:

Truffle and Parasol, 1/28, 1545 hrs.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious occupied vehicle parked in the apartment complex on Lovington near John R. Offer located it driving on John R N/O Lovington. When the patrol unit came into view the car pulled into a nearby subdivision at a high rate of speed. The officer lost track of it, however a second officer located it in an adjacent subdivision and stopped it. The 20-year-old male driver from Troy was arrested after investigation discovered open beer in the car. He was also charged with Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia found inside the car that is commensurate with smoking marijuana. Marijuana residue was visible throughout the floor areas of the car. His 21-year-old male passenger from Troy was released at the scene. 06-3746

Flagstar Bank, 5017 Rochester, 1/30, 0942 hrs.
Suspect approached teller and produced a note announcing he had a gun and demanding money, as well as a black plastic bag into which he directed the money placed. He told the teller the gun was in his coat. It was not seen. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled on foot. He was last seen crossing Rochester Rd. and walking east. It is believed he may have had a car parked or waiting behind a plaza on the north side of Long Lake, just east of Rochester. No one was injured. He is described as a B/M, approximately 30, 5-6, thin build, wearing a black cap, black jacket, grey pants, carrying a black plastic bag. Black and white photos from bank surveillance have been received; color photos should arrive today. 06-3949

Suspicious Incidents:

Construction Site, John R, 1/28, 1515 hrs.
Complainant reported while driving home she observed her son and three other youths running from a dilapidated shed on property that was under construction. She stated she observed smoke coming from the shed, directed her daughter to go home and get her husband and bring some fire extinguishers, while she detained her son and his three associates. Her husband and daughter returned and the fire was extinguished. Investigation revealed the three 12 and one 13-year-old males from Troy were in the shed with a can of aerosol paint. They were holding a match, igniting the paint as it was expelled when the straw on the floor of the shed caught fire. All four youths TOT parents. Case TOT Troy PD Youth Bureau for follow-up. 06-3742
