The Troy Veterans Memorial Committee hosts the 6th annual Troy Veterans Day Ceremony at Troy Veterans Plaza, in front of City Hall (500 W Big Beaver),
Friday, November 11 at 11 am. (In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the City Council Chambers). The program will include the Heritage Concert Band, a memorial brick dedication, the Raising of National Colors by the Troy Police Honor Guard, and the Laying of the Memorial Wreath on Veterans Monument by honorary guests. Sabrina Stidham will read a poem she wrote, entitled “Heroes Carved in Stone.” Sabrina, an eighth grader at Baker Middle School, recently had one of her stories, “The Unknown Confederate Soldier,” placed in the Confederate States of America Museum in Charleston, South Carolina. The featured speaker will be Colonel Peter Nelson Fuller, the Project Manager of the Stryker Brigade Combat Team at the U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command (TAACOM) in Warren, Michigan. |
